A Tafelsig mother is appealing for help in finding her 20-year-old son who was allegedly kidnapped by a drug dealer.
The mom of Vinchernico Theron, 20, says she has been searching hospitals after she was told he was badly beaten and thrown with boiling water.
Charmaine says she last saw her son on 6 June at home in Tafelsig.
“I saw him on Sunday and he was eating his lunch. The next day I didn’t see him and when I came home I realised he was missing,” she says.
“I went to look for him but couldn’t find him so I reported him missing.”
Residents said Vinchernico was kidnapped by a local drug mert last Monday and beaten up.
The reasons for the beating are unclear but since this information emerged, Mitchells Plain police have changed the docket from missing to kidnapping.
Police spokesperson Captain FC van Wyk says five men were arrested and made their first appearance in court yesterday.
“Police have opened a case of kidnapping. Five suspects aged 18, 44, 33, 39 and 22 were arrested and are appearing in the Mitchells Plain Magistrates’ Court [yesterday].”
Charmaine says she went to court hoping to find answers.
“At court they said it is postponed to 21 June but didn’t say where my son is. I just want my child back,” the worried mom says.
At the time of his disappearance, Vinchernico was wearing blue jeans, a blue long sleeve top and white converse sneakers.
