South Africa now has 6.5 million unemployed people – an increase of 2.2 million on the last quarter.
The country’s unemployment rate increased by 7.5 percentage points to 30.8% of the labour force in the third quarter of 2020, compared with the second, Stats SA said on Thursday.
In its latest Quarterly Labour Force Survey, the agency said the number of employed people increased by 543 000 to 14.7 million in the third quarter compared with the second.
