The fourth MTN store on the Cape Flats has been robbed in less than two months.

MTN in Kenilworth Centre felt the brunt of Friday the 13th when the store was raided by four gunmen.

But the skelms were equally unlucky as nifty cops nabbed them a short while later.

Police say on Friday at about 11am, four armed men entered the store, threatening security guards and staff and demanding cellphones.

The skelms fled the scene in a getaway car after a brave employee managed to press the panic button.

But their victory was short-lived as vigilant cops tracked down the vehicle to Gugulethu three hours later.

Police spokesperson, Sergeant Noloyiso Rwexana, says five suspects were been arrested.

“Swift response by police led to the arrest of five suspects, between 25 and 35 years, in Gugulethu. Once charged they will appear in the Wynberg Magistrate's Court on a charge of business robbery. No shots were fired and no injuries were reported,” Rwexana said.

MTN SA spokesperson, Jacqui O’Sullivan, says the suspects fled with a large number of phones.

“Post-traumatic counselling for the employees and customers that were present during this incident has been arranged,”O’Sullivan said.

A Kenilworth Centre spokesperson said cops could track the robbers’ car thanks to their onsite security team and Verifier, a licence plate recognition system.

In the past two months, MTN stores at Ottery, N1 City, Liberty Promenade and Westgate malls have been robbed.
