The families of three men, who were killed in a hail of bullets in Delft on Monday, are demanding answers.
They say Mogamad Saadiq Cloete, 25, Tawqeer Essop, 19, and André Bennett, 31, were innocent hard-working men and not gangsters.
The trio were shot multiple times by two gunmen while sitting in a red and black VW Citi Golf in The Hague.
The three were driven by their friend from Silvertown to Delft on Monday afternoon.
Saadiq’s wife Dilshaad Cloete, 27, says her husband left in the morning and promised to bring her lunch.
“He said he would bring food for me and our child and then hours later, I heard he had been shot,” she says.
“I don’t understand the reason for his murder, he was a self-employed, good father and husband.”
She says her family has tried to find out what happened from the driver of the car.
“The man who picked them up from the area is nowhere to be found, we are looking for him just to understand what happened.
“I heard at the time of the shooting he went to buy a cigarette at a tuckshop.”
Tawqeer’s hartseer mom Aqeela Essop, 40, says she went to the morgue to identify his body on Tuesday.
“He was shot in the mouth, and his body was just full of bullet holes,” she says.
“He was sitting in the back seat of the car when they were attacked.
“My son was still very young and had aspirations, and now he will never get the chance to do what he wanted.”
Mervyn Bennett tells the Daily Voice his wife is not coping with the tragic death of their son.
“We are all shocked here, trying to figure out what could be the reason for all of this.”
Police spokesman Colonel André Traut says no arrests have been made yet.
