Thabilile, 35, and her friend Nomthandazo Leleki were shot dead
Its was a bloodbath at a Khayelitsha smokkie where two women were mercilessly gunned down on Friday night.
Another person was wounded in the incident in Town Two.
A heartbroken Bongiswa Mhlophe says she lost both her sister Thabilile, 35, and her friend Nomthandazo Leleki.
The sisters’ establishment was unusually quiet on Friday night and Bongiswa says they did not expect any trouble because they have no enemies.
“Nomthandazo had just come from work and she said that she wanted to take a bath and she was about to pour the water when a man suddenly appeared and then started shooting at her. I think she was shot three times,” Bongiswa explains.
“They then went to the other side of the shack because they heard people talking and they also shot them.
“When it was quiet, just when I was about to come out, the man was standing by the door with a gun.
“I went back to where I was hiding and then they left. I don’t know how many shooters there were.”
The devastated woman says she hid until she saw her brother walk past the door she was standing behind.
“I told him about the shooting, I felt the victims’ pulses and thought they were still alive.
“I ran to my uncle to fetch him so we could rush them to hospital but when we returned, they had both passed on already.
“My sister’s friend ran from the scene but fell a few streets away. She is now in hospital.
“We don’t know why they came to shoot here.”
Lingelethu West SAPS spokesperson Sergeant Xoliswa Nyalambisa says: “[The two women] had been shot several times. One was lying on the floor in the front room of the house and a second female was found lying on the floor in the bedroom.
“It is known that a male dressed in a dark colour jacket was seen running from the house after the shots were fired.
“A third lady was also possibly injured, but ran away from the scene.
“A case of murder has been opened for investigation.”
