A cab driver is set to appear along with two suspected drug merchants in the Wynberg Magistrates’ Court today after being busted while making a drug drop in Parkwood on Tuesday.
Grassy Park Police Station commander Colonel Dawood Laing says the trio were busted by wakker cops who spotted them driving from the Phumlani Village informal settlement to deliver 146 mandrax pille in Parkwood.
“They were caught shortly after 2pm while driving along Acacia Road.
“They were driving a white Ford Ikon and officers on patrol recognised the two skollies in the car as members of the Six Bobs gang and tried to pull them over,” he explains.
“However, the driver saw officers in a marked vehicle signalling him to stop, but he sped off.”
Laing says the officers managed to pull the driver over and got a skrik when they saw a plastic sakkie being thrown out of the window.
“On closer inspection, officers found that the packet contained 146 mandrax tablets valued at R5500 in the packet.
“It appears that they booked a trip from Phumlani Village to Parkwood where the drugs were on their way to Moosa Walk, which is the turf of the Six Bobs.
“As the driver tried to flee, he was charged along with the two other men.”
According to Daily Voice sources, during the investigation it was revealed that the car used was owned by a former police officer who is running a private cab company.
Laing says the men, aged between 21 and 37, were arrested with drug dealing and will appear in court today.
