FADIEL Adams has come out to bat for embattled Minister of Sport, Arts and Culture Gayton McKenzie in a race row.
Patriotic Alliance leader McKenzie last week moved to lay charges against Open Chats podcasters for saying coloureds are “incestuous” and “crazy”, but now faces allegations of racism himself after the resurfacing of tweets of him using the K-word.
A tweet from Mckenzie in 2017 read: “Words like ‘Black Diamond’ basically means that you are a better k****r, stop naming and giving nonsensical titles 2 blacks”.
The Economic Freedom Fighters called for his removal from the cabinet, while the DA reported him to the South African Human Rights Commission.
In a Monday morning tweet, McKenzie said: “I can never be guilty of racism, try some other take down but never racism.
“I did tweet some insensitive, stupid and hurtful things a decade or two ago, I was a troll and stupid.
“I cringe when seeing them and I am truly sorry for that. I shall subject myself to the investigation.”
In response, Adams said in an official NCC statement: “The NCC stands firmly against racism in any form, but we equally reject the weaponisation of allegations to discredit and weaken leaders who dare to speak boldly for their communities.
“We will not stand idly by while the credibility of Coloured leaders is systematically attacked under the guise of moral outrage.”

Meanwhile, Adams is also involved in a Facebook spat with Mayibuye Melisizwe Mandela, who claims to be a kleinneef of Nelson “Madiba” Mandela.
Adams responded to Mandela for calling out McKenzie to a debate of his alleged racism.
He said: “I’m not going to defend Gayton McKenzie. He is more than capable of defending himself.
“You know, you can accuse Gayton of many things, but no one is going to stand up here and tell me that man is a racist. Die gattie werk’ie
“You see, if your defence for racism is racism, then you don’t have much of a defence.
“Look I understand your grandfather was a great man, no one will dispute that. Sit your ass down. Gayton will eat you in a debate.”
“What those laaities did was wrong. What I also said is ‘I don’t want these laaities criminalised, I want them rehabilitated’.”
Mandela then hit back: “I strongly believe Mr. Fadiel Adams , leader of the National Coloured Congress & MP, actually wants to debate me.
“Well, Mr Adams, you can come, I will show you flames…”
