WAKKER cops seized two illegal firearms in operations this week.
Two suspects were busted in separate incidents as the South African Police Service clamped down on gun violence in Vrygrond.
Sergeant Wesley Twigg reported: “The removal of firearms which are illegally in the hands of criminals, yielded success when police members arrested a suspect for the possession of an unlicensed firearm on Monday, 21 July 2025.
“Members of Operation Shanela acted on information they received of a firearm which is at a premises in Philemon Street, Vrygrond. Upon searching the premises, they confiscated a .38 Special revolver without a serial number and 51 9mm rounds of ammunition.
“A 42-year-old male was arrested for the illegal possession of a firearm and ammunition.
“In an unrelated intervention, members of Operation Shanela and Muizenberg Crime Prevention Unit, searched another premises in Philemon Street on Monday evening where they confiscated a CZ 7.65 pistol with six rounds of ammunition. No one was arrested and a inquiry into the matter was registered.
“Once charged the suspect will appear in the Muizenberg Magistrates Court on the mentioned charges.”
Muizenberg SAPS have been besig after also busting a vrou in Sea Winds with a vrag dwelms on the same day.
The suspect was expected appeared in the Muizenberg Magistrates Court yesterday.
