The passion of a teacher at a Delft school has inspired the owner of a debt company to donate 20 computers to the children.
Delft South Primary has beautiful modern buildings, but although there is a library, they don’t have books.
They also have a music room but no instruments, while the media centre had no computers.
Thabo Mayosi, 34, from Khayelitsha, says he started teaching at the school in January 2018 and was impressed with the amazing team of teachers, but noted the school was in need of materials.
He then met with his previous boss, owner of National Debt Advisors, Sebastian Alexanderson, and spoke of the school’s needs.
Alexanderson, who has over 300 employees, decided to assist and over the past few months donated 20 computers to the school.

Thabo says he cannot thank his former boss enough for what he has done.
“Our children have so much potential and the teachers are willing to give their everything, but the tools are sadly lacking.
“We are a no-fees facility, but the school still has expenses and needs.”

Palie, Fikiswa Maqubela, says while he appreciates the computers, they now face another dilemma - the school doesn’t have internet.
“The school has been waiting for a long time for internet as promised by the (Western Cape Education) Department.
“We are hoping this will give them the motivation.
“Currently the kids are bringing R2 every day so we can buy one gig of data required to do the administrative work.”
Alexanderson says he is simply looking to the future: “I employ staff on a daily basis and we realise that people are not equipped to do their jobs because they lack basic computer skills. We are starting with the children, planting a seed for growth.”
Any donations can be dropped off at the school.
