A lekker jol ended in a blood bath after unknown men barged into the Yonela Tavern in Gousblom Street in Dunoon and opened fire, resulting in two deaths on Monday afternoon.
SAPS’ Colonel Andre Traut says murder cases are under investigation and there have been no arrests.
“One of the victims is yet to be identified and the other one is 39 years old.
“The tavern where the crime was committed is licensed and there is no indication that the Disaster Management Act was contravened,” he says.
It is alleged that one of the deceased is the tavern owner, while the other is one of the attackers.
A source says attempts by patrons to save the tavern owner failed and he died on the scene.
In a video taken after the shooting, a group of men appear to be carrying him from the bloody spot where he fell to the back of a truck.
However, by the time they reached the truck his body was lifeless.
Another source who was at the tavern says everything happened very fast and as people scattered during the shooting, it was difficult to see who was doing the shooting.
“One of the attackers was shot. I don't really know what the conflict was about, but there was shooting everywhere.”
