Two people have died and one was injured in a shooting while they were standing at a tuck shop.
Police were called to Trinity Place in Clarke Estate, Elsies River, on Sunday evening where they found the deceased, a 17-year-old boy who had been shot in the head and a 30-year-old man who had been shot in the neck and head.
It is not clear if the incident is gang-related or not.
Cops say the drama unfolded when unknown gunmen approached the deceased along Adriaanse Avenue and St Dominic Street at Trinity Place and opened fire.
A third person was left wounded and taken to hospital.
Lieutenant-Colonel André Traut explains: “On Sunday, 22 April at 9.30pm, two males, aged 17 and 30 years old, were fatally injured during a shooting incident in Elsies River.
“SAPS members received a complaint of a shooting incident, where three persons were shot.
“They were standing in Trinity Place, St Dominic Street and Adriaanse Avenue [in] Elsies River, when unknown males approached them.
“Several shots were fired at them, hitting the 30-year-old male in the neck and head. The 17-year-old boy suffered a single gunshot wound to the head.
“They died on the scene. The third male was shot in the lower abdomen and was taken to hospital for medical treatment.”
The suspects fled the scene on foot in an unknown direction.
“A case of murder and attempted murder has been opened for investigation. No arrests have been made.”
