The Daily Voice was invited to an exclusive pre-launch of the brand new #SpiritsUp campaign by rapper Sho Madjozi and Tik Tok.
The popular Gqom Afropop hip hop queen whose real name is Maya Christinah Xichavo Wegerif, has teamed up with the popular social media app this week where she shows off her kwaai choreography while jamming to Spirits Up, a song that aims to encourage the youth during the Covid-19 pandemic.
“This campaign is aimed at promoting positivity in South Africa especially with everything going on with the strain the pandemic has on us,” Sho tells the Daily Voice.
“And the amount of creativity that Tik Tok allows is so cool and the editing is really nice and easy, young people love visuals and I think it’s because of that creative and active visual that made me share this campaign with them.”
The full song will debut on 3 July on Tik Tok during a live performance by Sho.
Boniswa Sidwaba, TikTok Content Operations Manager Africa says: “At TikTok, our mission is to inspire creativity and bring joy.
“In difficult times like these, it’s even more important to maintain an optimistic outlook and remain joyful, which is why we have launched this campaign to bring everyone together as a community that is supporting, encouraging, and even uplifting one another.
Users can join the #SpiritsUp campaign by creating their own dance videos with Sho’s new song and posting it on TikTok.
Sho adds: “While I have been at home, TikTok has been a platform for me to find joy and entertainment. Even more so, it has been a way for me to connect with my fans.”
