Do you think you’ve got what it takes to be the first Miss Gay Mask 2020?

Luvalot Monroe from Delft is calling on the LGBTQI community to bedazzle their masks in the name of spreading awareness on the Covid-19 pandemic.

Luvalot says the spirit of pageantry in the gay drag community has died with the rise of the Coronavirus

pandemic and subsequent lockdown.

Ons Kaapse pageant queens are now in lockdown and this has made the scene so dull, we love our controversial pageants and now we can’t even ramp to the mall because

everything is so scary

with people dying daily,” says the drag queen.

“I thought of creating a platform for the pageant cats to show off a bit, so I came up with a Miss Gay Mask 2020. It’s a first, but it’s for fun and at the same time, we get to spread

awareness and encourage people to wear their masks.”

The Miss Gay Mask 2020 pageant is an online affair, where entrants upload a video or photo of

themselves and their kwaai mask on

Facebook.

Luvalott explains: “We complain daily about the lockdown and the levels the president sets us on, we

complain about wearing masks and its significance.

“Here is an opportunity to show off your specially designed mask and get people to vote for you to win the title.”

The public can vote by “liking” their contestant of choice’s video or pic.
