Craig Lucas has released his latest single this week, accompanied by a sizzling music video.
The Elsies River klong pours his heart and soul into the track called Happy.
In the R&B ballad, which was penned by the man himself, Craig, 27, shares his raw emotions about ending a relationship with his boyfriend.
He says: “Lyrically, Happy revolves around a relationship that has come to an end. The song questions if love is enough to keep a relationship going.
“Relationships fail even when two people still love each other and because they love each other, they’d rather not hurt each other anymore.
CONTEXT: Craig in Happy music video
“Happy is about wanting the person you love to be happy, even if that means not being together anymore.
“Sonically, we took inspiration from big movie soundtracks and scores and tried to create an emotional and anthemic soundscape.”
Filmed along Beach Road between Strandfontein and Muizenberg, the music video features a same-sex couple being compared - with opposing emotions - in a double screenshot.

The video gives you two options: You’re either viewing the video filled with joy while thinking of your partner or there’s a feeling of misery towards your partner or ex.
And this is also the play on the lyrics, it’s how you perceive it.
The Voice SA Season 2 Winner, who came out of the closet in 2018, says he feels blessed to be able to shoot a video that allows him to represent the LGBTI community and himself.
“I am very blessed and thankful to have the most amazing supporters.”
“I was given a platform and I am happy to use it to push for LGBTQ representation in the mainstream,” he says.
Craig also struggles with mental illness and says the lockdown has increased his stress levels but he has taken up jogging to take better care of himself.
Happy is available on all digital platforms including Spotify, Google Play Music, Apple Music, Deezer and YouTube.
