Calling all songbirds - if you’ve got what it takes to join the fabulous South African Youth Choir, then here’s your chance to audition.
Auditions for new members to join the 54-strong choir will be held at University of the Western Cape.
The internationally acclaimed choir is one of the most exciting choral projects in the world today.
It’s a unique social upliftment project where musically talented youngsters from different backgrounds and cultures are developed in almost all aspects of life.
Choir conductor Phil Robinson says he is looking to recruit 12 new members and all he wants is raw talent.
“People wanting to audition must have mostly talent and a big passion for music,” he says.
“You must be prepared to work hard but the best part is being exposed to all the amazing opportunities you have with this choir.
“You don’t have to be able to read music but if you can sing, it would be perfect.”
The choir currently consists of 54 high school learners and students between the ages of 13 and 25 years.
Since its inception, the SAYC has showcased its vast abilities on both local and international platforms, entertaining a variety of audiences across the globe.
Phil says: “The choir does not only promote a unique musical product of international standard but also endorses raw and exceptional South African youth talent.”
The choir has already been awarded “Best Youth Choir” at the prestigious international ATKV Animato International Choral Competition for four consecutive years (2014 - 2017).
