Beyoncé stole the show at the BET Awards but didn’t stay to hear if she won any.
The 34-year old opened the show in Los Angeles alongside Kendrick Lamar with an energetic performance, but as soon as she left the stage she hopped onto a plane for London, where she had a show on Sunday.
Beyoncé performed her hit, Freedom, looking stunning in a sequined body suit, barefoot and with her hair newly done in long braids.
En dis ook maar goed haar hare was gevleg, because during the star’s performance, the stage was flooded with “rain”, soaking Queen B who stomped in the puddles and sang her heart out.
Beyoncé had the second most nominations of the night with five, but was unable to accept them.
Her mom Tina Knowles, 62, took the stage twice to pick up Bey’s trophies Video Of The Year and the Coca-Cola Viewers’ Choice Award.
Queen Bey also won Best Female R&B/Pop Artist, and the Centric Award for her hit Formation.
Speaking about the black icons who have recently passed on, including Muhammad Ali and Prince, Tina said: “Let’s let them smell the flowers while they are alive.”
There was a musical tribute for Prince, led by Janelle Monae, as well as performances by Alicia Keys and Usher, who had a political message on his back, saying “Don’t Trump America”.
