Moffie is set in 1981 South Africa at a time when all white men above the age of 16 had to complete two years of compulsory service in the South African Defence Force.
In the film, a teen soldier must survive his military service while also dealing with the feelings he has for a fellow recruit. As the movie unfolds, the pair attempts to come to terms with their sexuality.
The movie has already had a great reception having been nominated for the Best film Category at the London Festival 2019, as well as for the Queer Lion award at the Venice Film Festival.
It showcases the acting skills of Kai Luke Brummer, Ryan de Villiers, Matthew Vey, and Stefan Vermaak.
