Ingredients 

- 1kg cake flour

- 1 pack of instant yeast (purple packs are the best)

- Some salt and sugar

- 500ml to 600ml tepid water with a blob of butter (about 3 tbsp) in the water

Method

Mix the flour, salt, sugar and yeast until well combined.

Add the ‘butter water’ a little bit at a time until all your flour is used up and mixed well. 

Rub some oil over your dough and allow to raise for about an hour.  

Put the dough on a floured surface and shape into vetkoek.

Heat oil in a pan, and deep-fry the vetkoek on both sides until golden brown.
