The minstrels saved the best for last, packing 15 000 people into Athlone Stadium for the Section Two finals of the Kaapse Klopse Karnival Association competition.

But top honours went to the Juvie Boy Entertainers for their Juvenile Sentimental, English and Afrikaans Combined Chorus, Best Band and Group Song items.

D6 Raw and the Orients placed second and third respectively. West London All Stars were champions.
