The Artscape stage was lit as the stunning cast of the annual Best of Boogie show came out to dazzle the audience once again.
The talented singers and dancers had mense on their feet as they belted out hit songs of the 70s and 80s, with colourful costumes to match.
Best of Boogie celebrated their 10th anniversary this year, and as previously, this run was also sold out.
This year’s theme was the Ultimate 70s/80s Party and it certainly lived up to its name, as mense were entertained with tributes and impersonations of Michael Jackson, Freddie Mercury, Tina Turner, James Brown and Elton John to name but a few.
The artists kept up the energy right up till the end, also singing Abba, Whitney Houston, Deborah Cox, Depeche Mode, Tina Turner, George Michael and a medley of South African songs and much more, interspersed with doses of lekker Cape Flats humour.
Director, writer and producer Rafiek Mammon says his greatest reward is celebrating 10 years of sold out shows.
“Oh yes we did it again!” he tells the Daily Voice.
“I don’t mean to boast, but Cape Town proved again that they can support local and the show was pure quality from the first performance to the last.
“It’s an unapologetic coloured humour show which stars Gary Naidoo, Jon-E and Riyaan Cornelius, Cindy Gibbons, Celeste Dreyer and Janine Cornelius.”
