Athlone Stadium was aanie brand on Saturday when the remaining teams of Section 2 joined those of Section 1 to compete in several items of the Kaapse Klopse Karnival Association Competition.
The teams fought it out in Juvenile Combine Chorus, Afrikaans Combine Chorus, English Comic and Female Sentimental.
The teams included Ohio Carnival TV Stars, Young Tycoons, Xtreme Minstrels, Orient G-Star, District Six Raw, Posh Vibrants, Mitchells Plain All Stars, Playaz, West London All Stars, Juvie Boy Entertainers and Baruch Entertainers.
Not even the load shedding could shut down the KKKA’s carnival and spectators arrived in their thousands for a day packed with fantastic entertainment.
It was quite intense and very exciting to see the current Carnival Kings of both sections, the West London All Stars and Juvie Boy Entertainers, go head to head.
The mense went crazy, and this was clearly intimidating to other teams as the Daily Voice spotted some leaders and members looking more than a little worried as they performed.
The day was definitely not short on star power.
The Voice SA finalist Krista Jonas performed for Mitchells Plain Tycoons while Idols Top 16 finalist Zia Fielies stepped out for Ohio Carnival TV Stars in the Female Sentimental section.
Moppie King, Waseef Piekaan, who performed the English Comic for West London All Stars, had everyone in stitches with his song about “Poo Nurse”, Mimi Williams.

But it was Baruch who took the day as hundreds of fans stood up in support, waving flags and chanting the Baruch theme song.
It was the first time the team performed since the competition started.
In the first week their performance was cancelled due to strong winds, and the second week due to technical issues.
