Singer Mujahid George and his friends are set to cruise into the month of love with a unique show.
Mujahid is hosting his first-ever Valentine's Day-themed concert called It's A Love Cruise, and quite fittingly it will take place on a boat.
The Jolly Roger, docked at the V&A Waterfront, will set sail on 13 February and Mujahid says his show features local gems such as Loukmaan Adams, Fagri Isaacs, Tashreeq de Villiers, Nur Abrahams and more.
Mujahid says he wanted to find a way of making local artists “feel wanted again”, and to allow people to have an unbelievable experience on Valentine’s Day.
Those who manage to get their hands on the limited tickets available will enjoy the sailing experience with stunning views of Table Mountain and Robben Island.
Guests will get welcome drinks on arrival, and enjoy sushi dishes while a DJ sets the mood.
“I wanted to find a new way of making us as artists feel wanted again, to allow people to have an unbelievable experience that they'd never forget, without forgetting the rules of the current situation, Covid-19,” says Mujahid.
“I wanted people to come out and still feel safe while we enjoy doing our craft and still earn a living.”
He says strict Covid-19 protocols will be observed.
The Jolly Roger’s usual capacity is 90 people, but this number will be halved for the cruise, so that couples can keep the required 1.5m social distance.
“Due to the demand there are two time slots to ensure that the measures we are taking stay in place,” the singer explains.
“We will provide each couple with their own hand sanitiser, each individual will go through a screening and all this will be recorded.
“The food and beverages will all be sealed, and each person will receive their own meals and beverages.”
The cruise will leave the port at 1.30pm on Saturday, 13 February, the Jolly Roger Boat is moored at Shop 7a, Quay 5 at the V&A Waterfront.
Tickets cost R1250 per couple, while a package for four people costs R2500.
