After reading the story of TikTok star Shaakirah Jacobs in the Daily Voice on Friday, readers reached out to offer her a makeover and drug rehabilitation.
The Tafelsig mother of four, who admits to being a tik user, became a social media sensation with her dance videos in the street.
When Shaakirah’s nephew Rashaad Slamdien, 16, started a TikTok account for her, she had no idea that six months later 44 000 people would be enjoying her lagbol clips.
Users can’t get enough of @ShakirahJacobsDancer, her sense of humour and dance routines.
Now N&N Unisex Hair Palace owner, Naasief Hoosain, and his team want to give Shaakirah a makeover.
“We love her story, I personally viewed her on TikTok and love her humour and the fact that she uses the platform to motivate others, and we want to give her a makeover and see how we can support her more so she can always feel motivated and believe that there is hope,” he says.
Megan Natus from MK Beauty Studio said she admires Shaakirah’s natural star quality and will treat Shaakirah to a facial and body massage.
“We can become influencers and not have to have riches, glitz and gold to become one, but what she shows us is to be yourself, love yourself and become a ‘real’ influencer,” says Megan.
“We at MK find pleasure in making people feel good as this is our main goal. When we influence people, let's be real, raw, approachable, lovable and lastly grateful.”
Kurt Oliver, who works hand in hand with U-Turn Rehabilitation group has reached out to help Shaakirah.
“Shaakirah is welcome to join U-Turn for their three-phase programme.I worked with U-Turn over a long period and they have done some good work within our communities to rehabilitate people and intergrate them into society,” he says.
“Shaakirah will benefit well from this programme. We are ready when she is and can possibly start this week.

Cindy Satira from Cindy’s Creations, will be treating Shaakirah to a mani and pedi to make sure her nails look pretty.
“I read her story in the Daily Voice and I must admit, I never knew she was facing all these battles. As a woman, we all deserve to be pampered so I would like to treat her,” she says.
Shaakirah said: “Wow, I heard all these people want to do something nice for me, I never had any of these treats before and I am keen to talk about the rehab process, very excited about that.
“Thank you Daily Voice for sharing my story.”
