BACK WITH A BANG: Legend Vicky Sampson
Living legend Vicky Sampson is back with a brand-new track just in time for the month of love as her aim is to spread unity and love among nations.
After releasing Love and Miracles in December, the African Dream singer is on a roll with new music.
Her latest single called Song of Love, which will be released this Saturday at the V&A Waterfront, is a follow-up to her massive hit of nearly three decades ago.
It is the theme song of the Walk for Love campaign, which will also be launched and live streamed internationally on Saturday.
Vicky says the song was written by her friend Nini Schlechter last year and the Walk of Love campaign is the perfect vehicle for it.
“This is my follow-up song to African Dream. And Saturday will be the first time I'm singing the song live.
She adds: “Walk For Love will be the campaign to get the conversations going in Africa towards peace and unity. It’s an amazing thing for this song to be attached to this campaign.”
Vicky sings: “Like a Phoenix we’ll rise from the ashes and demise, yes, we'll soar, when we take to the skies and we silence the cries of every war.”
Tes Proos from Walk for Life adds: “We want to promote inter-African travel and this is where Walk for Love came about, the love for tourism, Africa and people.
“We need to change the way we do business with each other in Africa, we need to learn to collaborate and hold hands across borders.”
She says the walk is being done in 15 African countries and will kick off at the same time.
The 2km walk will start at the Radisson Red Hotel at 9am and end at the V&A Amphitheatre where Vicky will perform at 10am.
