Soccer legend Diego Maradona couldn’t even rest in peace in his final hour.
Three funeral home workers showed zero restraint or respect for the dead when they wragtag took selfies posing next to Maradona’s coffin before his funeral.
The trio, reportedly outsourced employees, were summarily fired, writes IOL.
The Argentinian, 60, died on Wednesday after suffering a heart attack at his home outside the capital city of Buenos Aires.
Claudio Fernández told Radio Diez, a local radio station, that he, together with son Ismael and Diego Medina had lost their jobs at the funeral home.
Claudio was forced to apologise to angered die-hard Maradona fans after reportedly getting death threats.
In the images, Claudio and Ismael are seen smiling and with a thumbs-up sign next to the coffin. There’s also a picture of Medina in the same pose.
According to news.com.au, the trio got this swak gedagte while getting the body ready for the wake.
“The workers were supposed to be preparing Maradona’s body for the wake when they instead stopped to pose for a picture with a thumbs up next to the coffin,” writes news.com.au.
Begging forgiveness, Claudio said: “I ask for everyone’s forgiveness. I’ve worked for Maradona’s father and his brother-in-law. I’ve been close to Diego while he was alive. I would never have disrespected him while he was alive because he was my idol and it was not my intention after he died.
“I know a lot of people have been very offended and have taken it badly. I know it upset them. I ask all of them to forgive us.”
