Celebs came out in their numbers to get tjappied for a good cause.
The Cape of Good Hope SPCA annual tattoo-a-thon, Tats4Tails, ended on Sunday.
Over 70 supporters, including some famous faces, opened their hearts in aid of raising funds for animals.
The week-long event, which is sponsored by Identipet this year, was held in partnership with Primal Culture Tattoo Studio in Plumstead.
The proceeds of each tattoo done goes directly towards covering the costs of animal rescue.
Some celebs who received a brand-new tat include Suidooster actors Cedwyn Joel and Jill Levenberg.
Singer Craig Lucas, Leigh-Ann Jansen and TV presenter Tanya Nefdt also stieked uit.
Jill got a tattoo of dog paw prints, feathers and her father’s name in honour of her beloved dog and her dad who both passed away.
Craig got his mother’s Initials in sign language, Leigh-Anne had a watering can for her love of gardening, and Tanya opted for the phrase “Love over Everything”.
Craig says: “I chose sign language because it’s a less commonly used language in the tattoo world, people usually go for Chinese or Arabic and I wanted to show that sign language is just as valid and important as any other language.”
Leigh-Anne says: “I love gardening and my best friend Julian Naidoo chose this tattoo for me so it’s extra special.
“I also have a dog named Sage that I adopted from the SPCA.”
The team of Primal Culture Tattoo Studio did a total of 91 tattoos, raising R63 700 which will cover the cost of 182 animal rescues, says SPCA spokesperson Belinda Abraham.
“We are so moved by the many that came forward and made their mark by getting one,” says Abraham.
She says this is one tattoo people will not regret.
“Each tattoo funded two animal rescues so there was no better reason to get some ink.
“We know everyone will love their tattoos as much as their pets love them and we hope that knowing that their tattoos represent two lives saved, two souls no longer living in fear and two hearts that will now know only love, will make them so much more meaningful.”
