The Rockets’ former lead singer Theo Watt is launching his debut solo album on Sunday.
Theo left the band in 2019, parting ways after 32 years.
The Namakwa Daizy song producer says he is finally ready to share his original music with Cape Town on his 14-track album called Back to Front.
Songs are in English and Afrikaans, and include gems such as Aggeneys, Ou Basie, Break The Silence and Trane Vannie Kaap among others.
Theo says he is honoured to have had the late Molly Baron produce his album before he died in November 2020.
“It was shocking that he died just as we completed the album,” says Theo.
“The album is a crossover for the younger and older generation.
“I’m also doing a duet with Salome which Aubrey Arries wrote, called My Everything, and he also jumps on the wagon with the producing part of my album.”
He says a highlight for him is the duet he does with his mom, Helen Watt.
The dad of three and oupa of one will launch his CD at Empire Lounge in Strand.
Doors open at 4pm. Entry is R80 and the CD cost R100.
