Hollywood legend Christopher Plummer - who brought the character of Captain Von Trapp to life in The Sound Of Music - has died at 91.
His family confirmed on Friday that he passed away peacefully at his home in Connecticut, with his wife of 53 years, Elaine Taylor, by his side.
Tributes pouring in reveal he was a gentleman on and off the stage.
His The Sound of Music co-star, Julie Andrews, said: “The world has lost a consummate actor today and I have lost a cherished friend. I treasure the memories of our work together and all the humour and fun we shared through the years.”

Knives Out co-star Chris Evans said a favourite memory was “playing piano together ... between set ups. He was a lovely man and a legendary talent”.
Jamie Lee Curtis was “honoured to have ... [worked] with him” on Knives Out, while Don Johnson tweeted: “My dear ol drinkin and running buddy... see ya on the other side. RIP. (sic)”
Longtime friend and manager of 46 years, Lou Pitt, said Chris was “deeply loved and respected his profession with great old-fashion manners, self-deprecating humour and the music of words”.
The Canadian started acting in the 1950s and became the oldest Oscar winner in 2012 when he won Best Supporting Actor for Beginners at the age of 83.
