RX Radio will be celebrating its third birthday on-air on Saturday through a virtual live broadcast from 9am-12pm.
Due to the current lockdown rules and Covid-19, the radio station had to cancel a physical birthday party and settled for a virtual one.
The station is also urging mense to support their Back a Buddy campaign which in turn will help sustain their beloved radio station.
RX Radio is an online station based at Red Cross Children’s Hospital and is one of the first radio stations in the world to have child reporters broadcasting from within a hospital.
Noluyolo Ngomani, the Senior Content Producer and Incoming Station Manager says they are planning a fun-filled and interactive morning of entertainment.
“We want to celebrate with our child and young reporters, and the RX Radio family at large.
“RX Radio provides a platform for children and youth, with and without chronic conditions, to voice their opinions on issues relating to them on their own radio shows, while promoting child participation in matters of their communities.”
In the past three years, RX Radio has trained 100 child reporters (four to 18 years) at Red Cross and Paarl Hospital.
They broadcast 24/7 via their www.rxradio.co.za website and App.
