The driver, who allegedly killed Nicki Minaj’s father in a hit and run accident, has turned himself in to police.
Charles Polevich, 70, is under arrest and has been charged with leaving the scene of an incident involving the death of a person, and tampering with or suppressing physical evidence, according to TMZ.
Nicki’s dad Robert Maraj, 64, died on Friday when he was struck by a car in New York. The driver of the vehicle that hit him is said to have fled the scene.
According to the criminal complaint, Polevich allegedly hit Robert with his 1992 white Volvo, and police say he “then exited his vehicle, stood over the victim, asked him if 'he was OK’, walked and returned to his vehicle and fled the scene”.
Cops allege Polevich "avoided intersections" on his drive home, and hid his car in the garage.
Nassau County Police Detective Lt. Stephen Fitzpatrick says Polevich “made the conscious decision to leave” the scene of the crime without attempting to call the emergency services to help Robert.
He was reportedly granted $250 000 (R3 million) bail, had to surrender his passport and is restricted to New York.
