Gospel singer and songwriter Carlo Abrahams is back with a new musical production called I CAN-CER VIVE.
Carlo, 38, with former Idols finalist Elwira Standili and Maak My Famous winner Cheswyn Rays, will perform on 12 September, and says the I CAN-CER VIVE campaign is dedicated to those who have conquered cancer.
Carlo, who lost his father to the dread disease in 2015, says: “Somehow, we all have been affected and know someone who has succumbed to this monster.
“Initially, cancer seems like a death sentence, but the close family and friends who help fight this enemy know that one is far from being helpless.
“Treatment options are getting more affordable and the rate of recovery [is] ever increasing.”
He says cancer survivors are heroes in their own right: “Beyond a shadow of doubt, these survivors reach for their dreams as they find joy and happiness once more and that’s why it’s important to musical artists such as myself and others joining me for the concert, to highlight this noteworthy cause.”
Carlo is well-known for his angelic voice and has shared the stage with well-known gospel artists such as Jonathan Rubain, Dumisani, House of Davids, DonVino, as well as international gospel artists such as Pastor Donnie McClurkin and Bishop Hezekiah Walker.
He says the show will have popular secular songs as well as gospel songs.
Last year, Carlo hosted a similar concert in Worcester, with the proceeds going to CANSA.
“This year once again I choose to donate all proceedings to CANSA, benefiting the Boland/Overberg region. Sometimes we tend to forget about our survivors, but they really need to be kept motivated.”
Tickets can be purchased via www.quicket.co.za and are priced at R50 each.
