A Mitchells Plain man started his own modelling agency where he trains and equips the youth in his community to prepare them for the runway.
Kenji Productions CPT, a modelling agency and entertainment non-profit organisation, was founded by Kenan Fortuin, 20, during the lockdown a year ago with 50 crew, models and extras.
The project focuses on growing young talent and mapping out opportunities for the youth while giving them a platform to do what they do best.
Kenan says: “It's something I've always had a passion for and during Covid I thought of how I could bring it to life.”
“I thought it would be a good idea to use it as a platform to uplift the youth of our communities. We are trying to build an artist and dancer group and would like to expand into that sector as well,” he says.
The members pay R50 per month to help sustain the project and meet once a week to practice their modelling and posing skills.
“We also do fundraising and events as a manner to generate money for the organisation. If there is anyone that would like to sponsor us in any way they are welcome to do so," says Kenan.
The NPO hosted their first fashion show on 15 May this year and will host their next event on 16 October, this fashion show will collab with local designers Biscuit Cpt, Ketto Clothing, Rep Jou Plek and Catline Productions who will be displaying their latest collections.
Tickets are R70 for adults and R45 Kids Pre-sold .
