Singer and songwriter Robin Fourie
Worcester-born singer and songwriter Robin Fourie aka Die Hooflig has released his latest single called Hoevêr.
The 45-year-old artist and music mentor, who is known as “the godfather of Boland Hip Hop” is excited to share his latest offering that is available across a number of major digital platforms including Apple Music.
Robin is also an ambassador and mentor at the Afrikaanse Taal en Kultuur Vereeniging’s (ATKV) Crescendo programme, where they mentor up and coming Afrikaans musos.
Robin said: “Most people know me as a Rhyme Author. I wrote and produced this song because I enjoy performing and playing with words. Initially, I created platforms for others to perform, and release their own songs and now I get to share my own music too,
“I am passionate about sharing knowledge about music to other aspiring musicians. Music is something that allows me to express who I am and what I feel and I believe it’s important to also help nurture up-and-coming talent.”
In the Karoo he is known as “Die Woordeboek” (the dictionary) because of his vast vocabulary. He brings poetry to Hip Hop and is a veteran in this field in South Africa.
“I am a full time artist and teacher through Hip Hop as well as other mediums. My artistic roots can also be traced to all my work in theatre.”
He sings: “Hoe ver moet ‘n vers gaan voor dit voor dit vervaardig word, vaartbelyde lyne sny soos lemme oop.”
On Friday, 27 August, Robin and the ATKV Crescendo team are hosting their latest Platform Sessions 3, The Blacktie musical event at The Upstage Lounge, Drostdy Teater, in Stellenbosch.
