Rihanna has officially joined the billionaires club.
Forbes has reported the star’s net worth at an estimated $1.7 billion (R24.4bn), thanks to her hugely popular music career as well as her fashion and beauty brands.
The magazine claims Riri's moerse earnings make her the wealthiest female musician in the world and the second-wealthiest female entertainer behind Oprah Winfrey.
The 33-year-old Barbadian's fashion and beauty businesses make up the largest chunk of her earnings.
Forbes has reported around $1.4bn of Rihanna's wealth comes from her 50% stake in Fenty Beauty, which she launched in September 2017.
Since first introducing her make-up brand, Rihanna has started Fenty Skin and will soon launch a Fenty fragrance.
Another portion of her earnings, around $270 million, is believed to have come from her size-inclusive lingerie line, Savage X Fenty, which the star debuted in 2018.
Fellow artist Nicki Minaj congratulated her on Instagram: “A BILLI-ON here, a BILLI-ON there- Little Bajan bih w/ green [eyes] - dat bag is a different size.”
Rihanna’s wealth even comes as she has pressed pause on her music career after the release of her album Anti in 2016.
The Needed Me singer teased earlier this year that new music was coming “soon”, as fans have been begging her to release new material.
And Rihanna also revealed the Covid-19 pandemic has been “humbling” and has helped her "appreciate the little things in life".
She said: “I’ve enjoyed doing the little things I wouldn’t normally have time to do, like cooking, going for a walk and riding my bike.
“It’s been humbling, too. [The pandemic] has affected so many people in horrendous ways - it’s reminded me that it’s important to appreciate the little things in life."
But the star admitted she has struggled with staying at home because she “likes to feel in control”: “I’m someone who likes to feel in control and last year was tough in that, like so many of us, I felt like that wasn’t the case.
“That’s why it’s so important to be kind to yourself. A pamper evening, a chilled night where you order in your favourite food – whatever makes you feel good.
“For me, that’s a movie night and ice cream."
