Lavis singer eyes Afrikaans success

Zoë Zana, a talented singer, songwriter, and music producer from Bishop Lavis, has turned her attention to the Afrikaans music market and even made it to the Top 6 of the talent search competition Die Kontrak.
Sadly, her journey on the show came to an end on Sunday but Zoë says the experience was amazing and has opened new doors for her career.
The 29-year-old secured her spot in the top six and performed her rendition of Woorde Uit Jou Mond by Elandrè and was a fan favourite.
“In a nutshell, I feel very good with regards to the feedback because entering the competition was a risk and a bit stressful as I didn’t know how the Afrikaans market would receive me, knowing that my preferred and first language to sing was English.
“But they received me with open arms and have been absolutely incredible towards me.”
Zoë says she has been overwhelmed with love online, with even Elandrè commenting on her performance, saying: “Help me please to pick up my jaw. Phenomenal.”
And although she didn’t advance Zoë, who was a Top 4 finalist of Idols SA Season 9 in 2013, says she is still a winner as she signed a deal with Sony Music while doing Die Kontrak.
“God has been so great, this deal means that I own the rights to my music and have more control over my career. It is an incredible deal because they make sure my music is heard across the country and internationally.”
She will be releasing her first single soon.
