Here’s something to keep Kim Kardashian smiling. The reality TV star has officially been declared a billionaire.
The 40-year-old makeup mogul was included in Forbes magazine's world's billionaires list for the first time on Tuesday after selling part of her KKW Beauty business.
The magazine cites her businesses – KKW Beauty, SKIMS and cash from reality TV and endorsement deals – for her vast wealth.
Her bank account boosted from $780 million (R11 billion) in October to $1bn (R14bn) after she cashed in on KKW Beauty by selling 20% of the business to Coty for $200m.
Kim overtook half-sister Kylie Jenner on the Forbes billionaire podium after her short-lived stunt in 2019 as the world's youngest self-made billionaire. But the title was revoked after the magazine claimed Kylie had "inflated" figures about her business affairs.
And Kim joins her estranged husband Kanye West in the billionaire ranks. The 43-year-old rapper, who made the Forbes list in April 2020, is reportedly worth $6.6bn (R96bn).
They got married in 2014, but Kim has filed for divorce in February. They share four kids.
Kim launched her beauty range in 2017, and said of the initiative: "It's the first time I've moved away from having licensing deals and transitioned into being an owner."
While her sister's been relegated to a lesser earning spot, Kim previously defended Kylie saying she hasn't had any of her success "handed" to her after mense made gat of her "richest self-made" status on the cover of Forbes.
She said: "You know, everyone has a team, I don't care who you are. But when you don't get it from someone else, that's 'self-made'.”
