Being defrauded of $1 million (R14m) is no laughing matter for comedian Kevin Hart.
The Jumanji star’s ex-personal shopper allegedly splashed out on luxury goods for himself with the actor’s credit card.
Now Dylan Jason Syer is facing grand larceny and klompie other charges in the Queens Supreme Court on Wednesday, says District Attorney Melinda Katz.
Syer, 29, is also charged with criminal possession of stolen property, identity theft and scheming to commit fraud.
The skelm started working for Kevin in 2015 and was entrusted with the actor’s credit card numbers to ‘only make authorised purchases,” Katz said.
He splurged on at least 5 Patek Phillipe watches, a Sam Friedman painting, 16 Bearbrick collectible dolls, five KAWS collectible dolls, and two Louis Vuitton Keepall Bandouliere bags.
“No one is immune to being targeted by fraudsters,” says Katz.
This defendant, who owned a personal shopper business, used legitimate purchases to gain access and then allegedly continued to charge the actor’s credit cards for astronomical sums of money.”
Syer, who posted his spree on Instagram, was arrested on Wednesday.
If convicted as charged, he could mang for up to 25 years.
