INSPIRE: Idris and his daughter Isan

Hollywood hunk Idris Elba is moonlighting as a children’s book author, thanks to his daughter.

The Avengers star signed a multi-book deal with publisher HarperCollins to produce a range of children’s books for a 2022 release inspired by his daughter Isan, 19.

Idris, 48, will be publishing picture books and fiction developed in collaboration with his writing partner Robyn Charteris.

The star said: “I feel privileged to have the opportunity to bring stories inspired by my daughter to life with my incredible partner Robyn Charteris, and the powerhouse team at HarperCollins.”

Ann-Janine Murtagh, of HarperCollins, said: “From the outset, Idris had a very clear vision of the characters and stories he has imagined, and is passionate about creating books that will appeal to all children.”

The multi-talented star also created the current British comedy series In The Long Run, set in 1980s London and based on his childhood after his family immigrated.

Idris co-parents Isan with his first wife and her mother, Kim Norgaard. He also shares son Winston, seven, with ex-girlfriend Naiyana Garth.

He’ll next be seen in The Suicide Squad and Concrete Cowboy on Netflix.
