DJ Calvin Peters aka Uncle Cal started the Band Aid SA project to raise funds and assist musicians in need of money for medical treatment.
Today, Uncle Cal and his partner DJ Le Rocks are hosting a Blanket Drive.
Band Aid SA is currently engaging in online opportunities with DJs and artists to provide protection from the harsh cold elements to the destitute and needy through a winter blanket drive.
Cal says: “We are going to use this network and resources online to build capacity so that we can make a difference. We don’t know how long it will take to return to normal.”
Tonight Uncle Cal, joined by DJ Le Rocks, will broadcast their popular online weekly Huisjol from the Grillfather in Woodstock and are asking mense to come and show their support by dropping off blankets and non-perishable foods.
The broadcast will occur from 7pm to 9pm and the venue will be open for meals but will observe strict Covid-19 protocols, and only 50 people will be allowed in at a time.
It’s still a bit nippy out there so help us to make a difference as we extend the Winter Blanket Drive with a live...

Uncle Cal says all the donations will be handed over to other organisations who work directly with the needy: “The campaign acts as an interface to distribute the blankets and non-perishable goods to NGO’s and soup kitchens assisting them with feeding schemes in underprivileged communities.
“We have already distributed quite a substantial offering to various charities and soup kitchens and will continue to do so till the end of September.”
