A group of Gugulethu pals have taken it upon themselves to help four needy Heideveld High School learners with their matric ball next Wednesday.
Since 2016, the group has helped needy matrics for their farewell.
Although they have managed to give the girls dresses for this year’s ball, activist Thulani Ngwenya says they need help with the finishing touches.
“We wouldn’t want them to miss out on the opportunity as they’re already looking forward to their matric dance,” Thulani says.
“We are talking about kids who beat the odds to stay in school and finish their matric.
“I have already given them dresses and shoes. I am just hoping for a good Samaritan to help with make-up and nails and a car.”
Thandokuhle Songelwa says: “This is the day I have looked forward to, unfortunately things did not go well at home.
“My granny can’t afford the costs and my eldest sister is unemployed. I was so happy when Thulani promised to help us and we are grateful for the dresses.”
