GrandWest Casino and Entertainment World is all grown up and is celebrating its 21st birthday with a stellar show to mark the occasion.

Entertainer Emo Adams and the Take Note band will be kicking off the jol on Wednesday with the first of 21 shows over 21 days at the Roxy Revue Bar.

The 90-minute “Grand Show” will run over New Year and into January 2022.

The Gums Kawielie Wams singer says he looks forward to being on stage again with the band: “I am really excited about this extravaganza.

“It will be my first time back on stage with the Take Note band in five years, so you can expect that we are going to bring a lekker jol with hits, energy, jokes and a few surprises.

“It’s the perfect way to end this crazy year.”

The audience will recognise some familiar faces in the band, which is led by bass player and musical director Sean de Vries.

Other members of the high energy outfit include Shaun Francke on electric and acoustic guitars, Marco Mentoor on piano and keyboards and Lance Rhoda on drums and percussion.

Sean tells the Daily Voice: “We are gearing up for a show of note, it’s always a lekker vibe performing alongside Emo and the band ouens.

“The show is going to be a hit and we are really honoured to be part of the celebration.”

The Grand Show will encapsulate 21 years of GrandWest magic, from Wednesday, 15 December 2021 through to 9 January 2022.

There will be no shows on Mondays or on 24 and 25 December, or between 1 and 3 January 2022.

The curtain will rise at exactly 8pm for shows.

On Saturdays there will be a 5pm and 8pm show and one show on Sundays at 5pm.

Two special New Year’s Eve shows have been planned starting at 5pm and 8pm.

GrandWest general manager, Mervyn Naidoo, says: “Turning 21 is a milestone.

“Instead of just one show for visitors, we decided to have 21 shows over 21 days to make this a truly festive season.”
