Get ready to see your favourite male singers like you’ve never seen them before - in drag.
Loukmaan Adams, Nur Abrahams and Daylinn Sass play Cinderella’s horrible mom and stepsisters in Cinderella & FrikaDella, a parody of the children’s fairytale.
All Star Entertainment and GrandWest are staging the show, which kicked off on Monday evening and will run through to 17 December.
The “contemporary pantomime” is written and directed by Allistair Izobell and also features Nicoleen Saal as Cinderella and Ramaine Barreiro-Lloyd as the Fairy Godmother.
Emo Adams from All Star Entertainment assembled his Maak My Famous cast for the show.
As social media takes over their world, the ruthless mother and talent agent Patricia (Loukmaan) manages her social media “influencer” daughters, Frika (Nur) and Della (Daylinn) with very limited talent.
The talented unseen stepdaughter Cinderella (Nicoleen), is ignored, treated badly and suppressed, but when a massive talent contest takes place, she secretly enters and of course wins.
undefinedNur says it was hard work treading the boards in high heels.
“It is so uncomfortable and out of my norm, with absolutely no training whatsoever. I think I am getting the hang of it,” he says.
“So much concentration goes into wearing heels and I just wanna say to all women in this world, ‘you are really the strongest human beings on this planet, to walk all day met seer voete is no joke’.”
Director Allistair says it’s thrilling performing in front of a live audience again.
“This is the greatest happy-feeling project we have done this year. The last harrowing six months have been such a life-changing catapult into a different direction and now one appreciates the reality of the sound of applause,” he says.
The show runs Mondays to Saturdays with a matinee show on Sundays.
Tickets are R120 for weekdays, R150 on weekends and can be booked at www.quicket.co.za.
