The Samaritan Feet South Africa organisation spoiled kids with a lekker foot massage and a nice pair of shoes at an event in Belhar.
According to the donors, about 100 children benefited.
Hermien Louw, the operational manager at the Samaritans, says they wanted to give the laaities a message of love and support to uplift their spirit.
“Children between the ages of two and 12 were served on Wednesday, 15 September, in Belhar.
“These little ones had big dreams of becoming policemen, teachers, doctors and moms,” she says.
“For them to know someone believes in their dreams and that despite the hardship they experience today, they can have hope that they can make a difference, often sparks the dream into reality.”
She adds: “We motivate volunteers to sit with a child, wash their feet and have a one on one conversation with the child to let them know that their life matters.
“Our children are often hungry for this message of love.”
She further says since the year started, Samaritan Feet has donated 15 000 pairs of shoes in different parts of the country and relies on support from the public to make it happen.
“We have different projects focusing on the message of hope.
“We work in collaboration with Good Samaritans in South Africa who identify the need in their community.
“The distribution of a pair of shoes cost us between R150-R200.”
