From Cape Flats to District 6, an original musical production starring children from the Cape Flats, will be performed at the Cape Town City Hall on Friday night.

The musical tells the story of a forcibly removed community grappling with the harsh realities of life on the Cape Flats and their deep yearning to return to their District Six roots.

The play stars real-life former D6 resident, Fuad Richards, who now lives in Woodlands in Mitchell Plain.

He is the narrator, Boeta Joe, a fruit and vegetable merchant, who shares stories and lessons from District Six.

The play was written by Belhar community worker Anwar Sadat, who hopes to take the show to various Cape Flats communities in the coming months.

All proceeds from ticket sales will be used in the upliftment of vulnerable kids on the Flats.

The show starts at 7pm and tickets cost R100 for adults and R80 for kids.
