The first of two finals for the Kaapse Klopse Karnival Association competition takes place this weekend at the Athlone Stadium.
Koppe Dag takes place on Saturday after the twelve teams of Section 1 face off in the categories of Group Song, Best Band and Minstrel Song.
The day won’t be complete without the traditional Klopse Jol. This time, however, it won’t be for competition, but just for fun.
The teams include YDM, Lavender Bright Stars, Hip Hop Minstrels, Original D6, Playaz Inc., Kenfac, Mitchells Plain All Stars, West London All Stars, Baruch Entertainers, Young Tycoons, Wild Comanches and The Last Tomahawks.
The trophy presentation will start immediately after the competition ends, said to be about 10.30pm.
Competition will start just after 1pm. Entry is R50 for adults and R30 for kids and tickets are only available via Computicket.
The annual Heart FM Music Festival takes place on Saturday at the Newlands Cricket Stadium and the artist line-up promises a jol of note, mense.
Jimmy Nevis, YoungstaCPT, Dr Victor and the Rasta Rebels, Bobby van Jaarsveld, Mango Groove, Freshly Ground, Shekhinah, Goodluck, Robin Pieters, AKA, Black Ties, Mi Casa, Early B and Emo Adams are all in town to perform at this festival.
Festival Director, Denver Apollus, says: “We believe we have the most inclusive line-up of artists on one stage, which is a true reflection of Cape Town and it’s diverse demographic.
“This family-friendly event aims to appeal to both the young and young at heart, but most importantly creating an accessible, all- inclusive day for everyone to enjoy.”
