NO JOKE: Kia Johnson joined Radio Tygerberg NO JOKE: Kia Johnson joined Radio Tygerberg

TV and radio personality Kia Johnson is joining the gospel community radio station, Radio Tygerberg.

The veteran presenter announced the move on her social media platforms on Tuesday night: “In the midst of what we are all going through, I am so happy to share some good news with you.

“I’m joining Radio Tygerberg 104FM as Co-Host on the morning breakfast show. Because we form part of essential services, you can tune in daily between 6 and 9am and enjoy inspirational moments over this time.”

Kia will be joined on air by Anton Brink.

The move comes after she spent nearly five months at Primedia’s Cape Talk, where she worked as a producer for the lunchtime show called Lunch with Pippa Hudson.

Her last official day at Cape Talk was on 23 March.

Cape Talk Station Manager Tessa van Staden says Kia will be missed.

“We wish her all the best on her new journey, she always wanted to be on camera and have more of a prominent role on-air, so we wish her all the best.

Kia also co-hosts an online broadcast show called Integrity Talks, alongside Clarissa Bloomberg.

Rikus van Rooy, Station Manager for Radio Tygerberg, confirmed Kia started on Wednesday, but says listeners thought it was an April Fool’s joke.

“We are excited to have Kia join us, she brings skills and all her experience on radio and behind the scenes as a producer and also the TV presenting skills.

“She is everything we are looking for right now.

“This isn’t an April Fool’s joke as many listeners thought.”

Kia, from Table View, has over 15 years of experience in broadcasting.

“Radio is a beautiful and personal manner of communication,” she says.

“The fact that you can positively influence someone’s day is the best feeling for me as a presenter.”
