The Gala, as we know it, turns 40 years old this weekend and is having a massive bash. Unfortunately, the Friday event is already sold out, but moetie worry nie, the Saturday line-up looks just as lekker.

At West End, jazz diva Karin Kortje will entertain you, along with Sammy Webber, Vernon Castle, Ian Smith, Celeste Williams and a special appearance by Galaxy’s very first DJ, Brian Bohorn accompanied by DJ Keith.
On the Galaxy stage, you can skut jou lyf to the beats of Dr Jules, DJs Willy, Nivan Bell, Ryan the DJ, and PE rap sensation Early B.
Doors open at 8 pm and tickets are R70 from Computicket.

On Sunday, the first concert in the Jazz at Rhodes Sundowner series happens at Rhodes Memorial, featuring local favourites Claire Phillips and SignatureSA with vocalist Craig Jordaan.
Arrive early for a quick late lunch at the Rhodes Restaurant before the concert starts at 4 pm. Relax in the tranquillity of nature blended with good music.
Tickets cost R80 each, while couples pay R150.
