The SABC3 soapie has announced that they are “taking a new, fresh, edgy, unpredictable and dangerous direction.”
And one of the first moves it made was to bring back Isidingo’s original bad boy Georgie Zamdela, played by actor Darlington Michaels.
Darlington left the show in a huff last year after an uitval with producers over the development of his character.
But Georgie is back with a bang, says Darlington: “I love playing Georgie because he is such an enigma and I would like for it to stay that way. His unpredictability keeps the audience glued to their TV screens.”
Darlington is joined by former Generations actor Anga Makubalo, 29, who takes on a new character called Obakeng “Mlahlwa” Bhengu.
Anga says he’s excited about his new role.
“MJ (from Generations) was such a spoilt brat, but Obakeng is completely different,” says Anga.
“I think [Obakeng] will * *** off a lot of people, but that’s what it’s all about I suppose.”
He’s already started filming scenes that will be aired in the next few months.
Abandoned by his mom and shunned by his dad’s family, Obakeng arrives in Horizon Deep as a rock driller with an explosive and uncontrollable temper.
Isidingo fans will be happy to hear that skelm Pastor Gabriel Mothusi (Audrey Poo) and the lovable Parsons Matabane played by Tshepo Maseko are also returning to the soapie.
