Loukmaan told the Daily Voice that Baby Adams was due on his birthday, but because he was busy filming scenes on Suidooster this week, he and Shaakira decided to rather move the C-section operation two days ahead of schedule so he could witness the birth of his third baby girl.
Loukmaan’s character Gavin on the popular soapie will make his debut on 29 October.
The father of three has a nine-year-old daughter, Layan, from his previous marriage, and a one-year-old, Nurah, with Shaakira.
They named the child Nimrah Adams.
Shaakira, 28, says she didn’t mind having her baby earlier than planned.
“For me, it was exciting because this meant I could meet my baby girl sooner.”
Shaakira gave birth on Monday at 1.57pm at Cape Town MediClinic.
“Everything went so fast, the one moment I was sitting on the bed for the epidural into my spine and the next I saw my gynae in butcher boots and then he butchered me and 20 minutes later it was all over,” she laughs.
“I saw Loukmaan praying in her ear and then he sang nursery rhymes to her.”
When Muslim children are born, the athaan, or call to prayer, is recited in their right ear.
Shaakira, who works as a travel agent, bonded with Baby Adams in hospital on Tuesday while Loukmaan had to rush back to the set of Suidooster.
Speaking to the Daily Voice in between takes on Tuesday, the busy dad says: “I can’t wait to get done here so I can get to my baby to spend some time with her.
“The last month has been so exciting for us, I landed this role in Suidooster, it’s my birthday and baba’s; all of this is so overwhelming, we are in a good space.
“We are thankful for all these blessings and everything that goes with it.”
Shaakira says she is happy baby is born so she can go back to all her guilty pleasures.
“I can’t wait to eat my favourite foods again and oh my... a Coke is the first thing I want right now, my family banned me from drinking Coke for the entire pregnancy, saying it’s not healthy for me,” she laughs.
