Bad news for Drake fans.
Reports that the rapper will be touring South Africa later this year are nothing but fake news.
Earlier this week, fans of the Canadian star went bos, when news sites reported that Drake, real name Aubrey Drake Graham, would be performing in Johannesburg, Durban and Cape Town on March 18, 20 and 22, respectively, before doing shows in Ghana and Nigeria.
No venues were, however, listed.
Websites such as Nigeria’s Pulse quoted that “general tickets and silver tickets are going for $40 (R575) and $55 (R790) respectively. Golden circle tickets are being sold for $130 (R1870) and the VIP tickets go for $225 (R3240).
“The VIP plus and the VIP premier is going for $700 (R10 000) and $1250 (R18 000) respectively.”
No ticket distribution service or date for opening of ticket sales were mentioned.
But just before fans started pawning their Christmas presents to raise ticket geld, mens e started smelling a rat.
STAY WOKE: Fake Drake tour poster
For starters, Drake and his management have made no official announcements of an African tour.
International ticket services have not listed any Drake dates for 2020.
TV channel BET Africa, which was listed as a sponsor on the supposed event poster, denied involvement, tweeting: “Good day, we would like to reiterate that we are NOT involved with a supposed Drake concert set to happen on 30 March, 2019. This event is not real.”

Moreover, leading event organiser, George Avakian, warned that it’s a possible scam, telling fans on social media: “Drake rumours are fake please make sure you don’t pay for any tickets, unless announced by Drake. Stay woke it’s 2020.”
